fi-compass Study on financial needs in the agriculture and agri-food sectors in 24 EU Member States
This fi-compass study aims to support EAFRD managing authorities in planning and programming the use of financial instruments in their CAP Strategic Plans for the 2021-2027 programming period.
The study investigates the financing needs of the agriculture and agri-food sectors in 24 EU Member States, drawing on the results of two EU-level surveys focusing on access to finance conditions of more than 7 600 farmers and 2 200 agri-food enterprises. The study identified a significant financing gap of EUR 19.7 – 46.6 billion for agriculture and more than EUR 12.8 billion for the agri-food sector.
The 24 fi-compass country reports further shed light on investment drivers, financing supply and relevant difficulties in accessing finance for the two sectors, with a focus on young farmers. The analyses also offer conclusions to address the identified gaps.
In the EU summary report, the main findings of the country analyses are collected. The report aims to provide an understanding of investment drivers, financing supply and financing difficulties, as well as the existing financing gaps for both sectors, at EU level.
