The 7th annual EU conference on EAFRD financial instruments ‘Stock-taking of 2014-2020 and looking forward’, organised by the European Commission – Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) in partnership with the European Investment Bank (EIB), focused on the results, challenges and achievements reached in the outgoing programming period 2014-2020, and took place online on Thursday, 18 November 2021.
The conference was opened by Janusz Wojciechowski, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, by Spilios Livanos, Minister of Rural Development and Food, Greece and by Christian Kettel Thomsen, Vice-President, European Investment Bank. The conference set the policy directions for the use of new financial instruments under the CAP Strategic Plans, or the continuation of current ones, in line with the recommendations issued by the European Commission and the novelties introduced in the new legal framework.

The newest EAFRD-supported guarantee instrument put in implementation in Greece, alongside all innovations linked to its monitoring and reporting, were featured in a dedicated session during the conference. Additionally, representatives of EAFRD managing authorities from several European capitals shared their current experiences and intentions for using financial instruments for agriculture in the future. This was complemented by interventions from DG AGRI and the EIB outlining possibilities for further support to the EAFRD managing authorities.
