DG MARE launches a new survey to explore the potential use of EMFF financial instruments post-2020

The European Commission, Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE) with the support of fi-compass are conducting a study aimed at assessing the experience of using (or not using) financial instruments financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) and exploring the potential use of financial instruments post-2020.

As part of this study, DG MARE will launch a survey early April this year in order to collect feedback from the 28 Member States on their experience of using (or not using) EMFF funded financial instruments in the 2014-2020 programming period.

The survey consists of multiple choice questions and takes about 15-20 minutes to complete. Three different questionnaires will be available each targeting a specific audience: (1) managing authorities (MAs) not using the EMFF financial instruments, (2) MAs not using the EMFF financial instruments but having completed the ex-ante assessment and (3) MAs having completed the ex-ante assessment and willing to use the financial instruments as well as MAs already using it.

Responses will be reported in an aggregated and anonymised way so that the experience of individual managing authorities will not be identified in the outputs of the survey. Members States are encouraged to be as open and detailed as possible about their experience to date. This will help shape future activities to support the development of the regulatory landscape relating to EMFF financial instruments as part of the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027.
