The case study focuses on the implementation of a Bulgarian 2007-2013 European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) guarantee-type financial instrument directed at SMEs. The instrument stimulates bank lending to micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing credit risk protection. The case study describes the objectives of the fund, set up of the financial instrument, strategy, achievements and lessons learned.
