The European Commission – Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI) in partnership with the European Investment Bank (EIB) organised the webinar ‘Financial needs in the agriculture and agri-food sectors in Portugal’, that took place on Wednesday, 6 October 2021 from 10.30 until 13.30 CEST / from 9.30 until 12.30 WEST.
The webinar focused on the financial environment in which farmers and food processors operate in Portugal and was opened by Maria do Céu Antunes, Minister of Agriculture, Portugal and by Mihail Dumitru, Deputy Director-General, DG AGRI, European Commission. The EAFRD managing authority for Portugal, the Paying Agency and several financial intermediaries shared their experiences with the set up and implementation of the EAFRD financial guarantee instrument under the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programme. Speakers also presented the outcomes from a fi-compass study analysing the financial supply and demand for agriculture and agri-food sectors in Portugal, as well as existing constraints on the market.
