Can financial instruments help promote rural infrastructure?
DG AGRI webinar tackled the possible opportunities for investment in rural areas
Rural areas make up half of Europe's surface area and are home to around 20% of the population. Most of these have often less developed infrastructure in comparison to urban areas. The European Commission – Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development in partnership with the European Investment Bank, addressed this topic during the webinar ‘Can financial instruments help promote rural infrastructure?’ organised in December 2021.
Representatives from the EC, the EIB, managing authorities, financial intermediaries, and other relevant stakeholders shared their views on the role EAFRD financial instruments play in promoting rural infrastructure in the framework of the CAP interventions, as well as synergies with other national and EU instruments.
